Session: Selenium UI tests on a real project
It is easy to use Selenium to create a simple UI test. But when you need to make these tests reliable and bullet-proof, so you can include them in the continuous integration pipeline, it is much more complicated.
In this talk, I’ll share my experience from testing a large open source front-end framework. I’ll talk about using Selenium from C#, best practices for naming elements, reporting errors, implementing the retry logic and other things.
I’ll also speak about maintaining the web drivers, problems with browser updates and making the tests run as fast as possible in order to get results quickly. And of course I will show some demos – how to wrap Selenium to report more detailed error messages, how to set up your build agents and how to run the tests using Visual Studio Team Services.
